The inspiration behind my paintings is frequently the need to explore emotions. I’m intrigued by the complexities within different relationships and how this drives our emotional responses to things.

Oil paint is my primary medium and I work on canvas or board which has been primed with gesso. I like playing with the paintings’ surface, sometimes stripping everything away and then reworking it so that it begins to evolve from within itself.

Drawing is essential to both my paintings and 3D work as it allows me to explore ‘out loud’ the ideas I want to pursue. It’s cathartic but also very important in its own right.
